Sunday 16th July - Windsurf * The Manor at Felixstowe - sunny periods.

Fin - 25.25 knot max, 20.65 knot ave, 0.00 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 5.60 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

F2 277 Ride with and 32 fin with Tushingham Storm 5.2m.

Had already arranged to meet Robert for another foil session at Levington when the Hurrells messaged on WhatsApp that they were going to The Manor at 8.15 so I decided to put my wetsuit on and head down to check out the conditions taking Mag for her walk, she ended doing over three miles! Neil was rigging 4.8 and Craig 5m so I decided to return to Squiz Lane and give it a go, especially as I had taken my F2 277 (100lt) down. It was sunny and with a WSW,, slightly off wind blowing 25 knots it looked OK, there was a fisherman in the fist bay so took my board to the second and rigged my 5.2. It was a bit of a shadow on the beach but you could wobble off and soon hit the wind line, I soon realalised my mistake as I was pretty overpowered especially with the sea being pretty big, I turned a mile out and headed back, sadly making about 4 groynes upwind, I have never ever been a fan of small board /sail windsurfing and was not enjoying it, I had one more run out and made it back to my launch beach, I could have changed down to 4.8 but decided to pack up and head over to Levington for some more foiling, much easier on my poor tired old body!

Sunday 16th July - Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington - sunny periods.

Foil - 20.51 knot max, 19.25 knot ave, 13.07 knot hour, 16.80 knot mile, 45.10 km., 16.27 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.75m.

I arrived at the marina around 9.45 with foiler Robert rigging his 4m again and winger Andy going for a 4m wing I think so I set up my foil and went for my little used 4.75, with a slightly loonger boom is far less twitchy. WSW is not the best direction for Levington being gusty and lumpy in places but there was plenty of wind and it turned into another gybing feast, doing around another 60! I had a few runs diagonally across the corner and then managed to beat to Felixstowe docks doing lots of short reaches back. I did try to sail towards Pin Mill but the wind was particularly patchy that way so after two and a half hours decided to call it a day, pack up, shower and head for home arriving just before two, with enough energy left to do my exercises in th garden:)
